I have been bouncing this blog ball around for most of the day. I've looked at all of the angles and the bottom line is that you must put your first and last name. I have been given many excuses and I must stand firm on the new known commenter policy.
I'm expecting that a few will attempt to slip through the cracks but I will be monitoring.
If you have stong points and/or messages that you want people to hear, you will put your name to it and be proud of it. I will continue to post articles and with this new policy, I will do my best to be objective and not choose sides.
The choice will be yours alone in coming out. For many it will be difficult but I'd rather see less comments of merit than tons of garbage and trash talk.
God Bless America. God Bless Island Lake.
God Bless ALL of the Candidates who are competing for office in the April 9th election.

I do not plan on making a habit of doing this but here are a few comments from today that I cannot allow in the future because of not being properly identified. Call it a weaning period if you will.
ReplyDelete>"My family and I are voting For The People” slate and the Write in for Mr. Armrich. By the way Mark anytime you want to put the big sign on the front Lawn on fern dr. you are welcome to do so."
>"Great idea! I hope news about a new Mayoral candidate comes soon!"
>"nice try, but you'll learn of my identity on MY terms, not on yours"
>"I'm sorry that you haven't posted my piece which was simply an atta boy to you for doing this. I honestly don't know how to change my George Bailey to Mary Jo Martin, which is why I use my initials. I think the people who post here know who I am. MJM."
>"someone already owns my first/last name. I'm the. Founder of this blog. I am Laurie Rabattini soon to be a different last name anyway. Going back to my real last name."
So, there you go. Get on board or get off the train. You may actually feel better about yourself.
Mr. blog Administrator
DeleteBelow is my comment, and for your info as Handy Man.
>"My family and I are voting For The People” slate and the Write in for Mr. Armrich. By the way Mark anytime you want to put the big sign on the front Lawn on fern dr. you are welcome to do so"
I stand behind every comment, and some, direct to you and your height.
Tim briody and yes you know who I am and where I live.
Tim,
DeleteThanks for putting a picture and a name in the comment. I do not know who you are. I have found out that you are a registered voter in Island Lake.
Please change your display name to your real name. If you have any questions please email me at theblog1blogadm@gmail.com
I regret to say that I will not be able to post any future comments until the change is made.
Ok Mr. Blog Administrator, I have taken care of the problem. Made a fix and change my name.
DeleteAnd to Laurie R.
Yes I know my way around computers, I just have way to many email address, on Google to Remenber.!
Thats a good looking mugshot there Timmy. Thanks for your support. We will have signs soon.
DeleteI for one think it's a great idea! If the Village can censor the resident's right to speak openly and honestly at meetings, why shouldn't you have the ability to verify who is posting. I suppose it is all about being responsible for one's actions.
ReplyDeletePlease get on board soon so we can have some dialog. In response to the poster saying "you will learn of my identity on my terms, not yours". Thats fine with me. I quess you will have to sit on the sidelines and stew over not being heard. I hope DBTR and POR and SATAT , ETC. will also join in. I don't mean to sound pushy, I just will miss your commentary. Thank you for having had our backs all along.
ReplyDeleteMark,
DeleteThanks for being patient. I've been able to have the comments go to my phone which receives my emails. I can then approve it from my phone, so that may help. I'm also trying to figure out how I can let pre-approved names go through automatically. A few old bloggers don't quite understand how to change their display name. Maybe they should cancel their present google account and open a new one.
My biggest hope is that the candidates will comment here to get the word out to the voters.
If anyone wanted to make a comment without registering with google, send me your reponse in an email to theblog1blogadm@gmail.com
I will post it in your name and I will NEVER give your email address out.
I won't mind doing this extra work until April 9th. Call it my contribution to BOTH slates and the village residents.
Blog Admin:
ReplyDeleteNO WAY! If you post comments that someone hasn't taken the time or courage or responsibility to create a Google Profile, then they shouldn't be able to post--period! All of us have done it and so it's possible. Mark doesn't know his way around a computer but has managed to create a profile and even a Facebook page! So, no excuses!
If you post comments Admin, it's like you posted them and you are responsible for the comment and the libel. I am not sure you understand that. You have 20 legal disclaimers on this blog, but you are responsible for what you post and plus, if we are all putting our names out there, any other poster should have to as well. If they can't figure out how to create a profile, then they don't need to be posting. Sorry, but it's not that hard. Go to Google home, click on your existing profile, and scroll to bottom and change your display name. If you can't do that, create a NEW profile.
Yea Yea Yea. Blah Blah Blah. Thanks for your advice Laurie. I'm just trying to do the best I can. This is new to the blog and to me. With suggestions it should be alright.
DeleteIs there a way I can allow people like you, Mark and Ron to be instantly published? Email me please.
Any news on the mayoral race? A rich status?
